Strawberry Hill Policies

Prior to your stay, please review our policies listed below - if you have any questions or special requests, don’t hesitate to contact us.

  • Check-In: 3:00 PM

    Check-in is contactless unless otherwise requested during booking.

    Prior to your arrival, you will receive a welcome email with arrival details and information for your stay.

    Check-Out: 11:00 AM

    Upon checking out, please lock the suite, lock the main entrance, and drop the key in the outdoor dropbox.

    Failure to return keys will incur a $50 replacement fee.

  • Reservations are fully refundable up to 5 days prior to the check-in date. Bookings canceled within 5 days of the check-in date will be charged in full.

    No refunds will be given for late arrivals or early departures.

  • Room prices vary and weekend rates may be higher than weekday rates. You agree to the price of your room at the time of booking.

    Room rates are based on double occupancy, and there is a charge of $50 per additional guest in rooms that allow for them.

    Payment can be made by credit card, debit card, PayPal, or pay-by-link upon request.

    The City of Petersburg charges a 10% hospitality tax, and the State of Virginia charges a 5.3% sales tax, both of which are added to the total booking rate.

    Your payment method will be charged in full 5 days prior to your stay.

  • Strawberry Hill is a non-smoking establishment. This includes the use of vapes and e-cigs. Any violation will incur a total room cleaning fee of $250 and you may be asked to leave the property.

  • The parlor, dining room, and entrance hall are common areas at Strawberry Hill, accessible to all guests. We ask that all guests be considerate of others, and leave these spaces as they found them.

  • For the enjoyment of all guests, we ask you to please observe quiet hours between 09:00 PM and 09:00 AM.

  • Free street parking is available on Hinton Street directly in front of Strawberry Hill.

    Off-street parking using a complementary hang tag is available in the public library parking lot across Hinton Street from Strawberry Hill. Towing is enforced at the library, so please ensure you use the complimentary hang tag found in the welcome packet in your suite.

  • We do not serve a hot breakfast, but there are a host of breakfast options just a short walk away in historic downtown Petersburg.

    Homemade oatmeal breakfast bars, fresh fruit, coffee, and tea can be found in the dining room each morning.

    Each suite is also equipped with a mini-fridge and a Nespresso machine.

  • We do not allow pets throughout most of Strawberry Hill, certified service animals excepted. If you plan to bring a service animal, please notify us upon booking.

    The Hearth Room, our pet-friendly basement room with a separate entrance, is excepted from this policy.

    Guests of The Hearth Room do not have access to other areas of Strawberry Hill.

    Guests of The Hearth Room traveling with pets must clean up after their pets and are responsible for any damage their pets cause.

    Pets creating excessive noise will not be tolerated, and guests may be asked to leave.

    Pets must not be left unattended. Unattended pets may lead to fees and/or guests being asked to leave.

  • Strawberry Hill is not wheelchair accessible and stairs are required to enter the building. The Barksdale Suite is the only guest room located on the first floor.

  • Strawberry Hill is an event venue and hosts outdoor events, typically on the weekends, but occasionally on weekdays as well, in which case music and lights may be on until 9:00 PM. A representative will contact you if an event is scheduled to take place during your stay. Event attendees do not have access to guest space and are not to disturb lodging guests. Likewise, hotel guests are asked not to interfere with events.

  • Guests must be 21 years or older to confirm accommodations. A valid photo ID must be presented upon check in for age verification, or upon request in the case of contactless check in.

  • If you accidentally spill or break something, please let us know as soon as it happens – it’s much easier to clean if we know what it is and act quickly.

    Guests will be held responsible for any loss or damage to the hotel property caused by themselves, their guests or any person for whom they are responsible.

    Lost keys will incur a replacement fee of $50.

  • Please note that immediate termination of the rental agreement is possible if:

    More guests stay at the property than indicated during booking;

    Excessive noise is made after 9 PM;

    A suite is occupied by people other than those who booked it;

    A pet is brought to the property (other than the designated pet-friendly Hearth Room);

    Candles or any other open flames are lit;

    A guest fails to comply with reasonable requests of the owners to ensure the orderliness of the stay, the protection of the property, and the safety of the guests.
